Going into this film, I didn’t expect to have as much fun as I did when watching the first one. We follow the characters of Columbus, Wichita, Little Rock, and Tallahassee as they infiltrate the White House in a great opening to the music of Master of Puppets. It really puts you back in the energy that the first one had. The jokes landed well and the relationship that forms between the new characters with the old ones feels very organic. Madison was a fun character but definitely got more annoying towards the middle of the film. There are great character arcs throughout the film that subtly excel the story.
It gets a ding though for not having such a satisfying score/soundtrack as previous. I know I mentioned Master of Puppets earlier, but then there seemed to be an absence of other music other than score. I loved the first movie’s use of music throughout with the shots of how the world has gone to crap. I’m glad they made a sequel of this film, and if they make a third one, I will definitely see it because I enjoy going back to this world and its characters.
Double Tap really came out of nowhere but it kept the energy that the first one had. Is it better? That’s a hard question because it feels like this one is on the same level. A true continuation of a story. Satisfying and leans to a third entry, which shouldn’t take as long as this one did.

PCL Rating: High Taste It

Rotten Tomatoes Rating: FRESH 🍅
