Workin’ Moms’ newly released season 4 delivers in so many ways. Witty humor…check! Unique storylines…check! Superb casting…double check! If you can find time to give it a try, I promise you will not be disappointed.

In season 4 we catch up with 3 out of the 4 main characters as they continue to navigate complicated relationships as working moms.

“Kate Foster” (played by Catherine Reitman) continues to try to build a successful business in the aftermath of her husband’s admitted infidelity. “Anne Carlson” (played by Dani Kind) tackles a new professional goal while dealing with the struggles of raising an adolescent daughter who is also on the journey to find herself. “Frankie Coyne” brilliantly (played by Juno Rinaldi) struggles to nurture a blossoming relationship while dodging an interesting curveball thrown her way.

The one character we do not get much time with is “Jenny Matthews” (played by Jessalyn Wanlim). Previous seasons have focused more on her ex-husband “Ian” as he navigated being a single dad amongst Jenny’s absentee-ism. Bringing Jenny back as the main focus almost halfway through the new season feels forced and the storyline she is given doesn’t feel as authentic as those given to other characters who have remained fixtures in the series. This season doesn’t suffer as a result, but this storyline feels like more of an afterthought.

Netflix has once again delivered on a show that we didn’t know needed. It has made the right decision is continuing to provide smart and witty humor to topics we don’t get enough of in comedy. I can only hope it continues to deliver and that there is more to come from this brilliant show.
