The Bob’s Burgers Movie Review by Brooke Daugherty

Bob’s Burgers continues to be a goddamn delight and the feature film is a perfect example. Everything you could want from an episode is in this film – singing, dancing, quips, story, adventure – at least those are the things I wanted from this film. As always, we get a ridiculous plot and songs backed up by characters who are much more flushed out than many other “adult animation” shows.

Bob’s Burgers creator, Loren Bouchard, co-directed the film with Bernard Derriman and co-wrote it with Nora Smith. More time and a bigger budget allowed for more detail in scenes, which if I had to be honest, took a few minutes to get used to. The Belcher’s rarely have shadows on their faces or texture in their world, but it worked beautifully.

The core cast all recorded their parts remotely as the COVID 19 pandemic forced many places, including Hollywood, to lockdown. H. Jon Benjamin (Bob Belcher), Dan Mintz (Tina Belcher), Eugene Mirman (Gene Belcher), Larry Murphy (Teddy), John Roberts (Linda Belcher), Kristen Schaal (Louise Belcher), Zach Galifianakis (Felix Fischoeder), Kevin Kline (Calvin Fischoeder), and Gary Cole (Sgt. Bosco) all return for this full length adventure of the Belcher Family.

For all the setbacks or lockdown, this movie still came out as charming and funny as the television show. Halfway through my first viewing of The Bob’s Burgers Movie, I wondered how soon I could purchase it. I knew then I needed this movie permanently in my life.

PCL Rating: Tupperware
