If you haven’t watched Seasons 1-4 of Dreamworks’ She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix, do that now. The show just dropped its fifth and final season. We left off with Adora saving the day and her She-Ra powers gone. Just like other predicaments Noelle Stevenson and crew got Adora/She-Ra into, creating a season of She-Ra without the title character was a big challenge for the viewers to comprehend. As with other storylines, the writers masterfully spin a story that is both unpredictable and satisfying.

The animation is just as beautiful as ever, with updated character designs. We meet new characters as well as see previous characters from over the entire course of the series. Even with a huge cast of characters this season, the show maintains the high standard for storytelling. Aimee Carrero and AJ Michalka put so much emotion in their portrayals of Adora and Catra respectively. With all the characters in this season, I am a bit disappointed there wasn’t more Scorpia, voiced by Lauren Ash. Her characterization of the part scorpion, part human hybrid really catapulted her to one of my favorites in recent seasons.

Showrunner Noelle Stevenson solo wrote two episodes in season five, the most since the first season in 2018. She-Ra is her baby and she has had multiple writing and story credits, but only wrote 8 of the 52 episodes (one of which has a co-story credit) and co-wrote another. The continuity throughout the series is a testament to Stevenson’s leadership and communication with the writing and story staff.

I was a fan of the original series, but it does not hold up. This series will hold the test of time with the interesting stories and female role models. I will miss it so much, but I look forward to what else Stevenson has to offer. As for every other season of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, I give this a Tupperware.

PCL Rating: Tupperware

Rotten Tomatoes Rating: FRESH 🍅
