Buckle up! There is no shortage of laughs and heartwarming moments in this lovable and highly anticipated sequel from directors Chris Renaud and Jonathan del Val. “The Secret Life of Pets 2” is a new chapter in the life of Max, Duke, Snowball, Gidget, Chloe and the rest of the charismatic and lovable New York city pets we have come to know and love.
With a new addition to the family, Max (voiced by Patton Oswalt) and Duke (voiced by Eric Stonestreet) are learning to adjust to their new roles as big brothers while learning lessons along the way. Mix in a vacation to the family farm and those lessons are packaged with new friends and adventures galore.

Snowball the bunny (voiced by Kevin Hart) is also back. He now is a child’s pet living and socializing among these animals we have grown to love. This film highlights the humor of his small furry character with the voice and energy only Kevin Hart can bring. What might have been lacking or felt forced from this character in the first movie is made up for in spades in the sequel. Moviegoers will not be disappointed.

At times it may feel as though the numerous subplots add clutter and are not helpful in moving the storyline forward. However, I urge you to hang tight because rest assured, this sequel is packed full of adventures and laughs that will keep both kids and adults entertained.
Whether you are hoping Gidget (voiced by Jenny Slate) will finally convince Max to fall in love with her, or if newcomer Daisy (voiced by Tiffany Haddish) will successfully execute an escape from an evil circus owner, you will find that every adventure in this film will have you rooting for our pals to prevail. When accompanied by important lessons like helping those in need, supporting your friends or simply overcoming your fears, this film delivers! Quite simply this film doesn’t leave you rolling your eyes or wishing it would simply end. Instead, you will leave wanting more!

PCL Rating: High Taste It
