Directed by Joachim Ronning and written by Linda Woolverton, in “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” we revisit Angelina Jolie as she plays the powerful and sometimes frightening “Maleficent”, protector of the Moors and godmother of Aurora (played by Elle Fanning). The Moore continues to be inhabited by the beautiful creatures that call it home. They truly love their Queen, Aurora and are excited for her upcoming nuptials to “Prince Phillip” (played by Harris Dickinson). The wedding will undoubtedly be a magnificent event that brings both the Moors and the Kingdom of Ulstead together in peace. However the joy surrounding the upcoming wedding is quickly brought to a halt when “King John” (played by Robert Lindsay) is put under a spell and Maleficent is suspected of the crime. Queen Ingrith (played by Michelle Pfeiffer) takes a front seat in the war against Maleficent and the Moors, new worlds and creatures are discovered and alliances are formed all while Aurora fights to save her home and Maleficent.

This film is a visual masterpiece that is best seen on the big screen. Jolie delivers on this role in every way. Fanning also does not disappoint in her portrayal of Aurora as she navigates her responsibility to the Moors, her love for Maleficent and the conflict arising between the Kingdom and the creatures she rules. Pfeiffer is masterfully cunning and her actions will leave you on the edge of your seat throughout the film.
“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” brings you into a world where fantasy meets epic storytelling and surrounds you in a visual utopia of mystical creatures, beautiful landscapes and hidden worlds that often only exist in imaginations. It has moments that will bring the audience from laughter to tears all while rooting for kindness and justice to prevail.
