Gerard Butler brings his “A” game yet again as he reprises his role as Mike Banning, a secret service agent whose loyalty to his position and to the president makes him the target of a set-up by a close friend.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Ric Roman Waugh, Robert Mark Karmen, Matt Cook, Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt this story will be a familiar treat to fans of the first 2 movies in the franchise “Olympus Has Fallen” and “London Has Fallen”.
Butler, as always delivers a compelling and dynamic performance as Mike Banning and his connection to President Trumbull (played by Morgan Freeman) is palatable. It rides the wave of the connection they formed in the first 2 movies and drives it home in this film with a friendship that transcends their professional relationship. Audiences will feel it and will be rooting for Banning’s inevitable vindication.

The formula of this film is the same as the first 2 with the slight twist of having Banning framed for a crime he did not commit. However, the addition of great performances by Jada Pinkett Smith, Danny Huston and Morgan Freeman only enhanced the delivery of a story that had the potential of becoming stale and overused. Roman excelled in his portrayal of the action sequences that will be sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats and longing for another installment.
This is a respectable installment of a franchise that never fails to deliver. Butler brings the action and thrills we have all come to expect and this film does not disappoint.

PCL RATING: High Taste It

Rotten Tomatoes Rating: FRESH 🍅
