The rapid spread of an unknown infection has left an entire city in ungovernable chaos, but one survivor remains alive in isolation. It is his story.

If you’re tired of zombie movies with smart and crafty leads then look no further. Netflix has answered that call with “#Alive”. A Korean zombie movie that brings the viewer along on a journey with a young gamer who finds himself in the midst of a zombie apocalypse with nothing to rely on except his drone and what is left of his wits.

Ah-In plays “Oh Joon-woo”, who proves to be less than savvy when it comes to survival techniques. He is also faced with a shortage of food while stuck in an apartment complex that is overrun with zombies. There seems to be no escape until a neighbor in nearby building discovers him. They help each other survive and another adventure begins as they decide to leave their respective buildings to take a chance on an escape route that is by no means a guarantee.

Written and directed by Il Cho, #Alive is a fresh and modern take on zombie cinema. Audiences will find themselves frustrated and hopeful for “Oh Joon-woo” as he fumbles his way though attempts at survival.

Expect to be entertained while rooting for “Oh Joon-woo”s success. #Alive isn’t your typical zombie movie and that is what makes it worth the watch.

PCL Rating: High Taste It

Rotten Tomatoes Rating: FRESH 🍅
